Preparations for a potentially crazy week:

This Friday, we are attempting to go on a family vacation. Since I own a retail business and we have young kids, this is a rare occurrence. In fact, I don't believe I've been away from the store for a straight week since we've had kids. I'm not necessarily expecting this to be a relaxing vacation (part of the deal when you have young kids), but it will be good family time.

We'll be heading to Sioux Falls, SD for a family reunion over the weekend. The reunion ends on Sunday, but we plan to stay in Sioux Falls for a few more days after that. I've made arrangements so that I don't need to be back in the store until July 7th.

So, with many, MANY things to accomplish before we go, I'm preparing to venture through a crazy week. Thankfully, FASTFRAME has been extremely busy lately, but it requires more of me to get the work done before we go. It's sort of an exciting stress that I feel though as I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

We're supposed to be on the road by noon on Friday. I'm looking forward to that moment!

Did someone lose a pair of pants?

We had our air ducts cleaned this morning and they found a pair of pants in there. These are not little kid's pants either... we're talking full size, old man, polyester pants. How strange! The other odd thing is that we've had our ducts cleaned a couple other times since we've lived in the house, and you'd think the other guys would have noticed a pair of pants too.

I know Aubri has been using one of the return air vents as a garbage for the past year or so too. I cleaned out a bunch of Kleenex and baby wipes a few months ago. I bet there's all kinds of odd things that get stuck in the vents over the years, especially if you've got kids in the house.

You know your kid has outgrown his jammies when...

Actually, Aubri pointed it out to me and said, "hey look at Micah's toe sticking out... he's like a pirate, right Daddy?"

Aubri Turns 3!!!

Wow, kids grow up so fast! Aubri turned three last week. We had a mini party for her on her actual birthdate of June 4th, and then invited the families over for a bigger celebration on the weekend.

Aubri made her own cake for her mini birthday party. Of course Mommy helped a little bit. I think Spiderman helped out a little bit too :)

Lots of grandparents, cousins, and little friends made it to our place to celebrate Aubri's special day.

Sara made two ice cream cakes for the "bigger" party. As you can imagine, we've all had WAY too much cake this past week.

Aubri was supposed to give up her "nookie" (pacifier) on her third birthday. She was going to give it to the "Nookie Fairy" so other little kids could have a nookie. She decided she's not ready yet. She keeps saying she'll give it up in three days... although she's been saying that every day for the past week.

I think we'll let it slide a little for now, as she still uses it as a source of comfort at night and Sara and I need all the sleep we can muster up these days.

She's definately different than our other two kids. Gavin was done with his pacifier at one month old and Micah still doesn't really have any interest. I suppose we'll have to draw the line at some point, but we don't see any harm for the time being.

Next month: Micah turns one!
